Locally Harvested in Bradenton, FL
Pure, unfiltered, straight from our hives in Manatee County. The way honey is supposed to taste.
Not All Honey Is Created Equal
Walk into any grocery store and you will find rows of honey in squeezable plastic bears. Most of that honey has been pasteurized at high temperatures, ultra-filtered to remove pollen, and blended with honey from multiple countries. It pours like syrup because that is essentially what it has become.
Raw honey is different. Our honey goes from the hive to the jar with only one step in between: a light straining to remove wax debris. No heat, no blending, no additives. The result is honey that still contains its natural enzymes, pollen, and propolis, all of the things that make honey beneficial in the first place.
The color and flavor vary from batch to batch because they depend on what our bees are foraging that season: wildflowers, Brazilian pepper, saw palmetto, and citrus blossoms across Manatee County.
Bradenton Born
There is a reason people across Sarasota and Manatee County seek out local honey specifically. It is not just about taste.
Our bees forage on the same plants that grow in your yard. Many locals report that consuming honey with local pollen helps with seasonal allergy symptoms.
You know exactly where your honey comes from: our hives in Bradenton, Florida. No global supply chain, no mystery sourcing, no blending with imported honey.
Because we never heat our honey, it retains all of its natural enzymes, antioxidants, and antimicrobial properties. This is honey the way your grandparents knew it.
Buying local honey directly supports beekeeping, which supports pollination of local crops and native plants. Your purchase keeps bees working in your community.

Common Questions
Goodfriend Honey Co. sells raw honey at the Bradenton Public Market (Saturdays, 9 AM to 2 PM, October through May) and the 12th Street Summer Market (Saturdays, 9 AM to Noon, June through August). Both markets are located in downtown Bradenton on Old Main Street. You can also submit a batch request through our website to reserve jars for local pickup.
Raw honey is extracted from the hive, lightly strained to remove wax debris, and jarred. That is it. Regular store-bought honey is typically pasteurized (heated to high temperatures), ultra-filtered (removing pollen and nutrients), and often blended with honey from multiple countries. Raw honey retains its natural enzymes, pollen, propolis, and beneficial nutrients.
Many people in the Bradenton and Sarasota area report that consuming local raw honey helps reduce seasonal allergy symptoms. The theory is that local honey contains trace amounts of the same pollen that triggers allergies, and regular exposure can build tolerance. While clinical studies are mixed, the anecdotal evidence from our customers is strong.
Crystallization is a natural process that actually indicates your honey is real and unprocessed. All pure honey will eventually crystallize. To return it to liquid form, simply place the jar in warm (not hot) water for 10 to 15 minutes. Never microwave raw honey, as heat destroys the beneficial enzymes.
We do not ship our raw honey. Extreme temperatures during transit can damage the natural enzymes, pollen, and beneficial properties that make raw honey special. Our honey is available for pickup at local farmers markets or by submitting a batch request for arranged local pickup in the Sarasota and Manatee County area.
Find us at the Bradenton Public Market or submit a batch request online. Once you try real raw honey, the plastic bear from the grocery store will never cut it again.
